One Down

First piece of furniture to go!

My goal to minimize, has lead to the first piece of furniture to leave the house.

This was full of paper stuff.  If it was paper, I saved it

I ran copies of 'stuff' and saved those. When the cabinet was full, I filled up notebooks.  I went to Goodwill and bought more notebooks, so I could save my paper!

I don't know why, as I hardly ever looked at any of the papers. So I have been buried in paper, but this time getting rid of it.

I do know there are things that need to be saved.  So, those are tucked away in a safe spot.

There are things that do not need to be saved!

Empty!!

I have gained space in my room!

I have my eye on a dresser, that just might be the next to go!

The problem I am having is-- this feels so good I want to just go for it and dump everything.

  1. Great job. I hate going thru papers. I would love to just get rid of everything in this home office. But as sure as I did I would have to prove something. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. I know the feeling but I am pretty sure I can find most anything on line now days. My daughter even gave away her cook books and gets her recipes on line. That is going to far for me!

  5. hahaha, I know what you mean, Nonie. I'm doing the same thing right now. And it really does feel good to get rid of stuff we no longer need, especially PAPER STUFF! You're right, some of it we have to keep, but we really don't need a lot of it that goes way back. I just got rid of a folder myself today. You're doing good, Nonie. Imagine all the extra room you will have. : )

  7. Nonie, this is just wonderful! Minimizing is so addictive - it is hard to know when to stop. And the thing is, we find that we very rarely miss one thing that we have let go of. I have only regretted getting rid of a very few items - the rest, I can barely remember now. My husband and I were talking last night about taking some stuff to the flea market to try to sell this weekend, and it hit us that we have very little left to get rid of. He commented that if we had all the stuff we used to have, we would need a semi truck to haul it all. It feels so liberating and free to refuse to allow the things of this world to tie us down. Following Jesus compels us to live this way, and it is just wonderful. I am SO proud of you for letting go.
